Hello!

We leave for China tomorrow morning and I am so excited! Oh, you might want to know who I am first :) My name is Kelsey. I just completed my 3rd year at Bluffton University. I'm studying Psychology and am a music minor. I play the piano and drums and am learning guitar. Michelle, our leader, has taught me and a few others in the group how to sing. I have never been to China and am excited to see your country! I am looking forward to meeting each of you. I'll see you soon!

Introductions

Good to see this up and running. Thanks a lot Holly!

I'm an English teacher at North Sichuan Medical College. I currently teach writing and newspaper reading to sophomore English majors, as well as British Literature to juniors. I asked my sophomore's to write welcoming letters for the Bluffton students that are going to visit. The letters here are from just eleven of my 48 sophomore students.

A note about their names - they either picked their own as freshmen, or were given a name by their other teacher (who is a Peace Corp. volunteer).

From the letters, you can see what a Chinese student's writing can be like. You can judge whether or not I'm a good teacher, but ask yourself how well you can write in another language first. Enjoy.

Dear students at Sichuan Medical School,

My name is Dr. Michelle Latour, and I am the professor that will be traveling with 18 students from Bluffton University to China in a few days. We are all looking forward to meeting you on May 14. For many of us, this will be our first trip to China, and we are most eager to learn more about your country.

I am a professor of music and teach voice and opera. I am originally from Southern California, but moved to Ohio four years ago to teach at Bluffton University. The students you will meet study many different subjects, including music, and several students play on athletic teams at the university.

I hope that some of the Bluffton students will post information about themselves on the blog before we depart for China.

See you soon!
Dr. Latour
